Acrylic Painting: An Autumn Sunset

Acrylic Painting: An Autumn Sunset

I am very proud of this one.  In fact I may be in love with it because I do not believe any photograph does justice to how beautiful it actually looks.

So, I am aware that it is spring and not autumn. But I chose to paint this one for couple of reasons: one, I wanted bright, warm colours. Secondly,  and more importantly, I wanted to paint less like a five year old, and looked up a youtube video I could emulate (er, finally). It did help learn so much more- most critically that the 7 minute expert video translates directly into 4 hours of amateur effort. This is not a complaint but an observation to aid effective planning.

I also learnt that it’s ok for it to look really ugly to be begin with. The key is not to recoil in horror but to remind yourself of the beautiful end product you have seen on the youtube video.

The promise starts to materialize once you get to layering about an hour or two in.

And then eventually, here we are…

Ta-Da!!

It’s sitting on my desk now, looking right at me, though I am sure not as much as I have been looking at it!
