So today I went with a photo-composition on the given theme of the day: Naughty but Nice.
Here goes.. ta-ta-da..
I was happy with my contribution for today while under no impression that it was anything creatively extraordinary. But then I had couple of group members ask if it was a nod to Jack Vettriano. I was delighted with the comparison and so decided to google who that was!
Turns out he is a contemporary painter who’s had his share of success as well as notoriety (as is typically the case). I was flattered to have my composition compared to a painter’s. At the same time his work struck me as decidedly ‘naughty’ while I had worried my composition was too entirely on the ‘nice’ side!
I don’t know what to make of that. Except perhaps that any creative output lends itself differently to different witnesses.
