If winter is here, they say, can spring be far behind?
As I look out my window, it is snowing a little. And there are pink buds on this tree.. standing out, radiantly defiant.
Right now, it is winter and spring.
We think of seasons as blocks. Clear-cut definitions, of time and effect. And yet, for big chunks of time, two (or more!) seasons are typically dancing in the same space. Sharing stage, jostling for attention, conceding gracefully.
Currently outside my window, they are testing and teasing each other. Typical of equinox day. Typical of the inevitable cycles of change.
We think of change, similarly, as neat moves from one reality to another. ‘Like this’ one day, to ‘like that’… some day. What is that ‘some day’ you hold in your heart?
Notice the small ways the season has already begun to shift, wherever in your life you are desiring change. It is natural to keep focusing on the snow and labelling it, ‘still winter!’…and still winter..
But today, notice what has changed already. Since last month. Since last year. What are the pink buds for you?
If there is nothing else, but just the spark within you that wants something, that is your pink bud. Still standing. Radiantly defiant. Signaling possibilities.
Happy Equinox.
