Tarot Meditations: April 2020

Tarot Meditations April 2020

Ok, so the same phenomenon is observed again as in January. My cards seem to find my very well-designed monthly spread quite constricting, and instead show up the critical cards repeatedly in the pre- and post-shuffle. I was struck to see the 10 of Swords and the Knight of Wands show up three and four times respectively, falling out on their own outside of the actual reading. Struck, because the 10 of Swords came up as the dominant energy for April in my recent reading for whole of 2020  (Tarot Reading: Dominant Themes for 2020 )and both April and May were filled with Knights of Swords and Wands. [Specifically, Knight of Wands (reversed) was the clarifier for the Knight of Swords (reversed) for May.]

10 of swords, as noted in the reading for 2020, implies immense grief and an exhaustion of actual and inner resources.  Whereas the knight of wands implies fast-moving, immature, reckless energy which could be of the pandemic itself, or quite likely implying actions by people which are not well-grounded and impulsive. The fact that the cards were coming up now would seem to indicate these energies are yet to fully play out in weeks to follow.

Now coming to the actual reading. The message for the collective seems quite straight-forward. There is a sense of insecurity and not feeling provided for (King of Pentacles, reversed, as Starting Point). A strategic and well-thought vision and plan may be lacking, which we do see in many countries across the world with respect to the Co-Vid19 situation, and moreover the impact of this may be sorely felt and fearfully anticipated by people.

The guidance is to move towards creating a sense of normalcy in whatever ways possible (10 of Pentacles) That is the reassurance that people are looking for, in very earthy, perhaps boring ways, but something that allows access to their sense of usual ‘day to day’ which they may have taken for granted previously. That is not to say that restrictions should be removed, but rather to think of small ways in which people can feel a sense of regaining normalcy. Otherwise it may become harder to hold out discipline on the measures really needed to sustain perhaps over a longer period.

The challenge is that we are trying to find our way in the dark (Moon card), and operating in an atmosphere of fear. There is lack of clarity on how the situation will really evolve, and perhaps the worst instincts are likely to surface. In terms of tools to leverage, we are guided to plan using the worst-case scenario mindset (6 of wands, reversed). Pray for the best, but prepare for the worst. Better to be over-prepared than under-prepared.

Stay safe, everyone! Take care of your body, mind and soul.
