Looking back at April and comparing with the predictions from my 2020 reading, the energy of immense grief (10 of Swords) and the reckless energy (Knights of Swords/Wands) seems to have played out in terms of deaths, unpleasant occurrences and accidents both in the public domain and many which I heard among people I know, right from end of March till starting of May. I had also predicted in that reading that April will see more secrets coming to light, one of which was certainly revised numbers on the actual numbers of deaths in certain countries, especially China.
From the guidance spread for May, a very clear message yet again. The card that showed up repeatedly in the pre- and post-shuffle, and in the reading as well, is the 5 of pentacles, showing impoverished, suffering figures walking through the night in snow. They are close to a church, and yet they are outside, with no doors in sight to be let in. This immediately reminds of all the millions of poor migrants in India walking to their homes (villages/towns) hundreds of kilometres away from cities where they worked, having been left out in the cold by ‘institutions’.
And while this image resembles this particular occurrence pictorially, it also reminds of others suffering all over the world- the marginal sections always the worst hit, as also in this lockdown. Including migrants, small businesses, workers on the fringes of institutions, sections on the fringes of societies. The long food lines in Geneva remind that the most vulnerable in any country are susceptible at the moment.
The overall message of this reading is that we are in a pessimistic situation that threatens not only life, but also livelihood, life force and whatever is the best in us (Sun, reversed). While many countries have managed to respond as a community, this may soon precipitate into extremely selfish actions, perhaps including all kinds of crimes, borne out of needing to protect oneself and own interests (4 of pentacles, reversed), especially if institutions continue to fail the ones suffering (5 of pentacles, reversed).
The challenge is that we are lacking the long-term vision and strategy needed (3 of wands, reversed). It is a combination of the unpredictability of the novel situation itself, as well as political ability to exercise these qualities. However brave, innovative and visionary leadership is our only hope. Institutions need to show clear actions (wands) that focus on inclusion, taking care of the vulnerable, and keeping the sense of acting together as a community.
It is interesting to note that all cards are upside down in this reading, and all cards include people, and so they are here feet-up. Not rooted. We also have both the sun and snow among the cards, indicating there are resources but not evenly distributed. Two of the four cards are pentacles cards, indicating money and security are critical factors to give attention to, now.
For May, specific to the CoVid19 infection situation, the Knight of Swords (reversed) came out now- exactly the same as the May card in the 2020 reading. (I drew couple of more cards for clarification). In some cases this will continue to translate into reckless incidents as outlined in earlier readings. However in other cases this may translate into a slowing down. Additionally, and perhaps because of this slowing down, there may be a sense of clarity or newness- however we’re guided to take things with a pinch of salt as many things will be illusory and not as they seem. Many unjust things may happen, and it is good to be vigilant.
